The Takeout has an interesting article on the history of curry. https://thetakeout.com/what-we-know-as-curry-has-a-long-and-curious-history-1798252495
Hannah Glasse first included a recipe for curry in her recipe book published in 1747 The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy and every high street has at least one takeaway selling curry.
Curry appears on the table in our house regularly because it is an easy and economical dish that pleases John and the barbarians and, on the occasions that we eat out, it is often a curry. I also like to cook curry for dinner parties, a mixture of vegetable and meat ones are enough to please even the fussiest of eaters, unless of course they don’t like spice and then I am afraid we can’t be friends!
